Sergey Sobyanin Inspected The Agro-Cluster «Food City» In New Moscow

The agro-cluster ‘Food City’ in New Moscow is a unique system of providing the capital and other cities of the country with food products. It is an analogue of the wholesale food market ‘Rungis,’in Paris, that is adapted to the Russian market.

‘Food City’ provides farmers with guaranteed access of their products to the shelves, and purchasers – with eco-friendly food at affordable prices.

In September 2014, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ‘Kievskaya Ploshad’ company, God Nisanov, demonstrated the potential of the huge wholesale food agro-cluster to the Mayor of Moscow, Sergey Sobyanin. Cross-docks for wholesale provisions are spread across 91 hectares of land, as well as a shopping center with a large choice of food products, a warehouse terminal, wholesale warehouses, hotels and offices. All together the complex is a full-cycle enterprise with excellently regulated logistics and infrastructure.

In November 2015, Sergey Sobyanin visited the agro-cluster ‘Food City’ yet again. The Mayor got acquainted with the work of the customs terminal that opened in the wholesale and retail food center. God Nisanov told Sergey Sobyanin about the advantages of the customs terminal. A temporary storage warehouse called ‘Food logistics’ was created to speed up the documentation flows through customs. This primarily concerns perishable food products. Such products include: vegetables, fruit, meat, fish, milk, and various delicacies. The Mayor appreciated the importance of opening a customs terminal for the city dwellers – it saves time for the sellers, thereby allowing consumers to purchase fresh food.

Today, ‘Food Logistic’ clears more than 10,000 heavy vehicles through customs.

‘Food City’ sells more than 5,000 tons of food, which equates to 15% of Moscow’s food turnover. The agro-cluster sells agricultural products from 52 regions of Russia, including the Crimea, Krasnodar, Astrakhan, Murmansk and the Russian Far East. Other countries, such as Armenia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Syria, Iran and India, also opened their stores in ‘Food City.’

About 100 thousand wholesale and retail buyers come to ‘Food City’ daily.
